YOU'VE HEARD WE HAVE A MOTHER IN HEAVEN...

...BUT NO ONE EVER TALKS about her.

...But no one ever talks about Her.

If you’ve ever felt a quiet ache to understand our Mother in Heaven more deeply - or if someone you care about has asked questions you didn’t quite know how to answer - you’re not alone. This guide was created for faithful Latter-day Saint women who want more than to simply know that their Mother in Heaven exists, but want to understand how She fits into their faith and everyday lives - in a way that strengthens their faith, invites meaningful reflection, and encourages thoughtful, faith-promoting conversation.

There reality is for even many faithful, believing women...

It hurts that we don’t talk about Her more.
It hurts to know She exists and yet...

...feel unsure how, when, or if we truly believe that She belongs in our conversations, our teaching, our understanding of the gospel, or even our own lives.

If you’ve ever felt that tension - you’re not wrong for feeling this way.

Somewhere deep inside, many women sense that including our Mother in Heaven matters.

Not as a side note.
Not as an add-on.
But as something
essential.

You may have felt a longing that goes beyond simply wanting to know about Her -
a desire to
include Her, to make room for Her, to understand how She fits into the faith you already know and love.

That longing isn’t a problem to fix.
It’s a signal.

Something is missing - and you've felt it.

For many faithful women, the ache they feel around Her isn't just passing curiosity...

It's a Quiet Pain That Often Goes Unspoken

It hurts to know She exists but feels so distant.
It hurts to feel Her absence while wondering if your longing is allowed.
It hurts to love the gospel and still feel a quiet gap.
It hurts to feel closeness while standing in silence.
It hurts to feel full devotion - and still feel something missing.

And maybe the deepest hurt is this:
Knowing She is real, while not yet knowing how to let Her belong - in your thoughts, your words, your faith, and your lived understanding of the gospel.

If you’ve felt this tension, it's not a weakness. It's awareness.

Deep down, many women can sense that including our Mother in Heaven is important.

Everything we do in the gospel

points back to Them.

Jesus Christ is the How. But Our Heavenly Parents are the why.

Why do we make and keep covenants? Why do we attend church, go to the temple, serve in callings? Why do we follow the prophet, gather Israel, build Zion, and seek to prepare the world for the return of Jesus Christ?

Because we are part of something divine.

"Our theology begins with Heavenly Parents. Our highest aspiration is to become like Them."

- President Dallin H. Oaks

And when we understand them more clearly...the Gospel doesn't weaken - it DEEPENS.

For Latter-day Saint women like us, recognizing this truth has never been more important.

Not because the Church is wrong or needs us to fix it.
Not because we’re trying to keep up with the modern world.

But because our ability to teach, declare, and live the truths of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is strengthened when our understanding and teaching of God is whole.

Including our Mother in Heaven doesn’t take anything away from our faith or gospel truths.
It reinforces it.

Because our Mother in Heaven isn’t separate from the gospel.
She isn’t outside the plan.
She isn’t competing with Christ or taking anything away from what we already believe.

She is part of the very foundation of it - all of it.

This guide exists to help you see that.
To understand that including our Mother in Heaven strengthens the gospel, reinforces faith, and brings coherence to truths we already hold sacred.

Inside, you’ll explore truth that invite us to better understand:

  • The nature of God and our current knowledge about Heavenly Mother, with Jesus Christ at the center.

  • Who we are as daughters of Heavenly Parents - understood through Christ’s restored gospel.

  • The divine pattern we come from -and that we are continually growing into by following Jesus Christ.

  • How to study, teach, and talk about this sacred doctrine in Christ-centered, faith-promoting ways.

When we understand them more clearly, The gospel doesn't weaken - it deepens.

"Our Theology Begins with Heavenly Parents. Our highest aspiration is to become like them." - President Oaks
